thanatosviii asked: Hey there I'm relatively new with dice and paper rpgs. I've played AD&D once but that's just about it. I was wondering how does someone start with GURPS? Im also really wanting to do a Fallout campaign, any tips or books i should get for that?
GURPS can be an intimidating system if you don’t approach it with the right attitude. The only 2 books you need are Basic Set Character and Basic Set Campaigns, and for Fallout there is an online .pdf that I find helpful. You can find it at this link: GURPS_Fallout_compilation. I used this as a jumping point for my ideas.
Now the thing to remember about GURPS is that there’s a rule you can use for any situation but if you try to use them all you will go crazy. It’s best if you pick what rules you want beforehand to make it a fun game. I personally try to use as few rules as I can while preserving game balance, and anything else that takes too much time I make the judgement call as the GM.
When creating a character the GM should be involved to make sure he fits the setting correctly or you may get some crazy things, but in Fallout I guess you can make crazy work. Since there is a huge list of skills I’d only allow the useful ones in a game or reference to the rule for Wild Card skills to avoid confusion.
GURPS is like a tool box and the rules are the tools. In life you don’t need every tool in a tool box in order to get something done well…so remember the rules are more like guidelines and the important thing is to have fun and not feel bogged down by it. It’s the biggest rookie mistake, I think.

Suddenly a hand.
That’s not a mistake, these gifs are behind the scenes shots of a rehearsal. If you watch the episode you’d see that Jaime’s hands are completely out of shot.
What I Mean When I Say I’m Sex-Positive
- I think freedom of sexuality is something that we all need and very few of us have
- I think sexual pleasure is a legitimate thing to want and ethically pursue
- I do not judge people for the (consensual) sex that they have or want
you either loved the catcher in the rye with a burning passion and it touched your soul and holden caulfield was you in high school or you despised that book and threatened to burn it and holden caulfield was a whiny little bitch there’s literally no in between
can the same be said for the great gatsby?
